· The most important tip for washing your bag is to follow the manufacturer's instructions. This is true with both down sleeping bags and synthetic sleeping carriers.

· Don't use your regular, nasty detergent. Rather, use some sort of mild soap like Woolite, Ivory Flakes, or Nikwax Off Wash. There is no reason to provide bleach or fabric softener.
· Realize that your bag is going to soak up the soap you put in with the idea, so after the first cycle, but it via the second cycle without soap. This way you know that all the suds are washed out. (You can wash your bag by hand, in the bathtub in warm water, but it is extremely tough to get the different suds out!)
· Make sure that the soap is all out (it should be, after the 2nd cycle). Soap can cause clumping or a loss of fluffiness.
· Do not wring the water out of your sleeping bag. You may take a towel and press the pool out.
· Transfer your down bag on the dryer - that's correct! It can go inside dryer. Air drying is actually safest, but a dryer is faster! Just make sure to use low heat - you do not want to melt any of the synthetic fibers.
· Do not fear when your bag comes out of your first dryer cycle lumpy - this is certainly only because it ought to be put through the dryer multiple times before that completely dries. The lumps are not the outcome of the dryer ruining ones bag. Rather, they are the consequence of the feathers remaining wet.
· Place a tennis ball in with all your bag in the dryer whether it is nearly dry - that will help fluff the down.
